While turbo charging a diesel increases efficiency and reduces CO, HC, and soot emissions, the process drastically increases the production of NOx. This is one of the pollutants that make turbo diesel technology to be become so regulated. EGR, Catalysts, and Urea injection are being used to control it.

Emissions who needs emissions? I figure with being turbo it may burn cleaner than my n/a? Do any of you think they used the tdi or industrial use?

All of the above were sold over a period of years with differences for different markets, intended applications, parts evolution, so no two with the same 3 letter code are necessarily exactly alike in every way. Different turbos, pumps, manifolds, emissions fittings, etc, same code.
