yes, that leather looking stuff is the closed cell foam. I cut a square to fit tight into the hole made when I cut out the city water fitting. The foam was just some stuff I had lying around, it is about 1/4" thick, and black. It was just chance that I happened upon the trick of using the foam to prop open the port. It worked and I didn't bother making any sort of clever, fancy, "hey guys, look at this" hatch prop :)
