the vanagon pan is unique, made with that slope for the 55 degree install in the van. No substitutes apart from making your own.

consider buying a windage tray instead of a plain old oil pan gasket. The ones made for 1800 8v inline 4 VW engines will fit. It might help to reduce oil foaming and oil starvation in spirited driving, and IMHO makes a better seal to the block.
