oh... PAN Ben.. not pan gasket. the point is .........I think he wanted to know if he could use a Rabbit pan .. and the answer to that is ........THE PAN is not related in any way.

yes..for sure a metal oil pan could be make to work in a diesel vanagon .. just a lot of fabrication and welding..

and ........don't forget the oil pick up tube ...Yet another part that does not cross over from Diesel Rabbit to DV.

the windage tray btw.. I just ask for one for a '95 Golf with AAZ' .. and it's always better to have one .. though for a stock 1.6 NA in a diesel vanagon I usually don't bother.

Well, that's not 100% accurate. They use the same gasket. The mating surface is virtually identical. If one had a lot of time, you could reshape the Rabbit oilpan into a piece which can be bolted in place of the cast aluminum Vanagon pan. It might take you forever and a half and with great skill. However, in some sense they are related a little.
