Thanks Dominic. So if a westy sold for $17k in 1985, that is equivalent to about $34k in 2010 dollars. So the same van selling today for $13.7k is selling for 40% of its original price. It would be a stretch to say it is keeping its value. alistair On 2011-10-06, at 8:10 AM, Dominic Provini Jr. wrote: > I believe they sold for $17,000 in 85 and a Golf GTI was about $6,000 in > comparison. > > -----Original Message----- > From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf > Of Alistair Bell > Sent: Thursday, October 06, 2011 1:26 AM > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Re: Dollar value of Westfalias > > $13,700 in todays money is more like $6800 in 1985 money. > > what did a new westy sell for in '85? > > alistair > > > > > On 2011-10-05, at 10:08 PM, Scott Daniel - Turbovans wrote: > >> It changed hands for $ 13,700 .. >> I kinda had 12K in the back of my mind... >> and you can't put a price on 'very original perfect conditon' >> ...........like that's worth whatever ...7K right there. >> >> and .......interestingly.. >> that is somewhat close to the original selling price , or 75 % of it > at >> least. |
