My point was that at 38 PSI that tire is underinflated for a Vanagon load. Especially the rear. The only way these tires can carry the rated load is the increased air pressure reduces the flexing and resulting heat generation. At a given rim size and inflation pressure a larger with or diameter tire can carry more weight. There is a difference between XL or reinforced tires and LT tires with the "C" or "D" load ratings. Standard tires are known as load range "B". I do not know of any "A"s.
