Alistair, is your concern that the stuff may have monomeric acrylamide, like some of the potting soil additives do? I THINK those have been removed from market, but maybe not. Polyacrylamide and related compounds are used in diapers, as well, but I think after some initial concerns, the diapers now contain a purified grade. Some parents still will not use them for fear of nerve toxicity. Lots of stuff, mostly undocumented hysteria, about the diapers on the web. Here is the msds, with no specific id of the material. In addition to the unidentified "non-toxic polymer," the powder contains a "decay causing catalyst," in other materials described as an "enzyme." Maybe you can find more information. mcneely ---- Alistair Bell <albell@shaw.ca> wrote: > Dave, > > what is the absorbent used? One uses a 5 gallon plastic pail. A plastic bag, with the poo powder in it, is used to line the pail. When the powder and bag have been used, they are sealed and disposed. The entire operation takes place outside the camper, certainly when I use the setup, anyway. Others do have equipment that they use inside the van, but not me. > > > > Thanks, mcneely > > ---- Phil Zimmerman <philzimm1@SHAW.CA> wrote: > >> On Mon, 3 Oct 2011 11:37:28 -0500, Dave Mcneely <mcneely4@COX.NET> wrote: > >> > >>> I have now tried the products. > >> > >> If it is good enough for the U.S. military, which uses this system for field operations, I guess > >> it is good enough for me. > >> > >>> mcneely > >> ---------- > >> > >> Thanks for your vote of confidence on the use of Poo Powder.... > >> > >> I'll continue to crap outside my Westy.... > >> No matter what the US Military says or does... 8>) > >> > >> Pz > > > > -- > > David McNeely > -- David McNeely |
