My first VW was a 1964 bug I drove and maintained for a long summer in 1968. On loan from a Vietnam draftee. Fortunately he returned to collect it back. It had the reserve gas tank lever and no fuel gage along with other luxury features.
Now as novice owner of the Yellow Sub (82' camper diesel na) I am working towards my own registration tags -- Maryland State Safety Inspection. Thanks for all on this list who helped me so far. Five new spec tires. The oil pan now welded, installed and holding oil. Many more fixes you can guess. The Inspector says: 1 - *Rear Brake Drums* are worn below spec. Who has these? Not the pads. Drums. 2 - *Turn signals flash way too fast. * I checked bulbs and corrected the size. Is this a relay issue? 3 - Needs a *replacement side sliding window *in side door Mine is plastic, cracked and has no latch lock. Sources welcome. Is anybody parting out who can help? . Frank |
