Gee, I hope I wouldn't' have to remove the t-stat housing to get at the FUEL
pump. They must be six feet apart! (Did you notice your teeny tiny typo?)
I didn't have to take off the crank pulley, fortunately. I did move the
power steering pump out of the way, and that made it a lot easier to move
the upper metal pipe.
As for the o-ring, I found it at the VW dealer and at from my mechanic. I
had them both order it, as I was in a hurry when I started, and I was going
use whichever arrived first, and have a spare. The gasket for the upper,
passenger side crossover tube is readily available as well. It is the same
as the one on the water pump itself. The water pump came with its own o-ring
and the two gaskets for it. So I just had to get the identical one for the
other side. I didn't make it down to the dealer in time, so I re-used the
old one with a little gasket dressing on it.
