Subject: PSA Frog Tape & Painting A Vanagon
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8

FYI for you DYI'ers out there, if you are doing any painting that involves masking off windows, DO NOT get the green "Frog Tape" IT WILL NOT STICK TO RUBBER! I have now painted my entire '85 Weekender with the original Bronze Beige metallic a section at a time. Well, all except the rear hatch. I have spent less than $200.00 on paint (Dupont Acrylic Centari enamel) and materials. Is it perfect? No, but it looks a whole lot better than it did. It will/would look even better if I ever find the time to wet sand it with 1200 grit paper and polish it out-don't know if/when that will happen. I did do some of this backwards as well, as I also have new window seals, but I ended up masking off the windows, and I will replace the seals later. This van, for some reason continues to get more attention & comments than any other VW van I have owned, which includes 6 Bays and 3 Vanagons. Jeff
