Sad tale to tell after just such an installation. My neighbor just sold his 85 full westy with only 110,000 Km on it. The van had been inspected by two different mechanics, the fuel lines were all new within the last two years. The van was in in exceptional condition.

The new owner had a child seat installed in the rear seat and set out on a vacation trip. Less than a km from home she noticed smoke from the rear of the vehicle, stopped and got all passengers out and watched as the vehicle was consumed by fire.

Best guess as to the cause.... fuel line was damaged by the installation of the child seat.. Be very careful!!
