When I was thinking about buying my Vanagon I asked the previous owner what he had named it... "Babe" was the answer I got. He was selling it because he and his wife we about to have a little one (I didn't ask if that had anything to do with the naming or where conception took place), they had just bought a house, and had spent 10 years enjoying their travels in Babe. It's not a name I would have picked, and when she's being stubborn or particularly "special" I have images of a pig by that name... lol. The rest of the time, it's a good fit.
Andrea has been lobbying to rename the camper "Eddy" (after Eddy "the Cannibal" Mecrkx) because the colour is a good match to the colour he raced in... very tempting to the cyclist in me however it's now 2 summers of enjoying her and we still call her Babe.
