I am dealing with a coolant level sensor issue right now. I had replaced one about 3 yrs ago and had actually not had any flashing for a long time since then. The problem with this sensor from one of our list vendors that I still buy from and appreciate, was that the plastic was exceptionally brittle after a few years of heat started leaking and disintegrated. I purchased this time the supposed factory switch that was $39.00 rather than the less expensive German named one that was $3. I decided to replace the original expansion tank but will save the original just in case. I'm also going to replace the two hoses that attach to this tank just because I don't remember having replaced them in my 10 yrs. of owning the 90 Westy.

The cheapo coolant level sensors are known to be unreliable right out of the box. I would try another to make sure. A German one if possible. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of HotelWestfalia Sent: Wednesday, October 19, 2011 8:00 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Sometimes it does not ... Hi to all, Mostly it does. The blinking. It's an '85 Westy. I have changed the #24 relay, the level sensor and it is still the same. I have even let it blink with "key on" for 15 seconds before I start, but it does not help. Once in a while it stops blinking and makes me believe it's fixed, but then I try it again and it won't stop blinking. I did read up some stories on it, but honestly none of them was addressing it so one could fix it. Any of you know this? Zoltan
