Those who do HO-gauge model railroads with DCC Sound may have used CRC 2-26 to solve electrical contact problems between the nickel silver rail and the locomotive wheels. If it works there, it should solve the contact problems associated with the Vanagon fuel and ignition system.

Experimental results on my '84 Vanagon:

Before heading off to Germany for a couple of weeks, I sprayed both halves of the connector between the FI cable and the ECU. Van still works.

Last night, I tried an experiment with the AFM. I pulled the air cleaner assembly and squirted some CRC 2-26 on either side of the AFM vane. I had my Son (13) working with me (van will be his at some future time), and he wanted to squirt the CRC 2-26, too (better to teach him now that a little is good and too much is bad). I helped him put things back together, gave him the keys and told him to start it up. It started and ran well. We took it out after dinner, and no problems. I took him to school this morning. Again, no problems.
