So, I have been running my 87 Westy for the past few days with my O2 sensor unplugged because it idles a little smoother with it unplugged, on account of a tiny exhaust leak. I've run it like that before with no problems at all. Well, today on my way home from work, the idle started getting really rough at stopped lights and almost dying. I was able to pull into a parking lot before it completely died. In the parking lot I turned it off and then started id back up. The idle was still rough and the exhaust reeked of gas. I plugged the O2 back in and it ran fine the rest of the way home. Any explanation on that? I thought that if it was unplugged it just ran at the default settings. Is that not right? Thanks for the help! -p |
