It seems several Westy owners do own spits, there's been discussion before. I learned to work on cars on a spit when I was in my 20's, and then worked on my split window van a bit after that. I have to admit that the Vanagon seems really difficult to me. I was thinking about the the other day and it seems that a very high percentage of the problems are electrical/computer puzzlers. In the spit, the old adage of "fuel, compression and spark at the right time" fixed 99% of the problems. My vanagon suffered from hesitation on the way back to Santa Fe, and the problem seems to be that the AFM is confusing it's little Vanagon brain? WTF? Give me a good old carburetor any day! I'm fine with mechanics, electrical problems are another matter. Although, I won't talk about Lucas.....

Sorry if I'm getting off topic....
