It must be 10 years since I've seen a vanagon in a yard around here. Even the ones on the road are getting pretty rare to see. Southern Ontario is not kind to these vans in the winter and not many lasted. Even the ones you do see are normally imported from the south or from out west. Engine fire, sadly, and before finding it I just figured the guy had moved. I know of several more still on the road but I'm still surprised when I see one driving around that I don't already know about. That is always a pleasant discovery. There's even grey Westy like mine driven by a guy named Steve in town and I ran into him buying parts a few weeks back. > > Still several bays in town and I even saw a nice split last weekend. > > Stephen > > --- On Fri, 10/28/11, JordanVw@AOL.COM <JordanVw@AOL.COM> wrote: > > From: JordanVw@AOL.COM <JordanVw@AOL.COM> > Subject: vanagons are rare....on the east coast > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Date: Friday, October 28, 2011, 10:08 PM > > ive been hitting up all the major junkyards in southeast PA recently > looking for parts for my tow vehicle (ford van) and have not seen ONE vanagon in > the junkyards... theyre literally all gone.. i dont see any on the > roads either...... maybe the story is different on the west coast but on the > east coast.. they are pretty much nonexistant anymore... > > years back i used to find at least one during a junkyard run...but no > more... > |
