yep... Meyle stuff is generally to be suspected. heck.. the common VW Hella Horn ... the one in the yellow box.. I have been buying those for under $ 10 for 30+ years for VW's. Recently .. I needed one, went to my friendly local VW / foreign car parts store.. they sell me a meyle horn for perhaps $ 12 ... pure junk. Did not really fit that right .. where you'd expect a 13mm hex nut where it bolts on .. the nut wasn't 13mm, nor 12, or half inch .. DNF - 'does not fit'. and a totally puny honk. I returned it. I *really* bothers me that stuff is build and sold that is so terribly cheap and poorly made .. and it's just plain aggravating to have to take the time to return it .

I seldom go to Walmart or HF just due to this factor. If it's cheap .. but won't even fit or work brand new, or fails quickly ...........what is the point ??

it's sure not 'inexpensive' when it's useless ! just keep telling all the suppliers.. we're not buying cheap junk so don't even stock it !!

I run across this every day when doing the purchasing for Airhead/VWG. There a few (the operative word is "few") items from Meyle that are very good, but a lot are questionable. As an example, I know the Chinese outfit that makes the 111 905 865 L Ignition Switch for Meyle (and Febi [informationally yours]). These fit Late 74-79 Bugs, Buses, 80-91 Vanagons, a lot of inline 4 Vws - PURE garbage. I had 5 of them literally explode apart while sitting on the shelf. Had one of these in my 914 the 3rd owner installed (I'm the 5th owner) gone bad and it literally fell apart when I removed it. Kostal only switches for me.

Haven't had any issues with the Kolbenschmidt items made elsewhere....yet.
