It's a regular time-of-day clock, solder-jumper-selectable to either
twelve hour or twenty-four hour display.  Like the earlier analog
clock it's very accurate, in the 5 seconds per month class (uses a 4
MHz crystal instead of the commoner and cheaper 32768 Hz which gives
about 15 seconds per month).  I believe it normally retains the time
(may even keep running) for a short time with the battery unhooked,
so I suspect there may be something hinky in the clock itself.
