Stayed at Mountain of Gold in '73; was really cool. Stayed in '03 & had to leave at 3 am due to the noise. Also, was dirty, crowded, & loud with generators and boom boxes.

The eucalyptus forest was cool. It was planted by the Union Pacific Railroad to be used for ties when they built their portion of the transcontinental railroad. The twisted fibers and rapid growth made for excellent RR ties.
