Subject: Considering anti-winter options...
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

I've been looking locally for a place to store my westy AND be able to do some work on it. I've been unable to find anything viable. I can find places to store her indoors (without access) for a reasonable price or a place where I can work for 5X the storage price (not happening). So...

I'm looking at alternatives and am open to suggestions (pmail is probably appropriate unless there are other list members who speak up to say they are fussing with the same thoughts). I will have from late Nov until late Dec available for traveling and working on the camper, and then likely from some time in Feb until late March. That suggests "storage" from roughly Dec 1st to Apr 1st with a few weeks or work time at the beginning and end. And I would have a week+ time to get from Toronto to <wherever>, no rush. I can picture making a trip of it each way and taking a cheap flight home, then back. South, south-west, dry where it may not need to be inside the way it has to be up here? I'm just thinking out loud... maybe I should looking into packing it into a container and shipping it and me to New Zealand? Seriously, I'm looking for an affordable solution.

Has anyone considered or done this? Anyone on the list who'd consider making room for an extra camper in a dry safe, place where having someone work on it wouldn't be a problem? My camper runs great, we've been around a lot this year and I want to make sure she's just as reliable for 2012. The biggest task I have on my list is taking the kitchen out and addressing the rust that's happening from inside. The rest is just a slow tour to take care of minor things. I am new to all this though, so if you offer I can promise there will be "how should I" questions.

Anyhow... I was thinking about it as I look for storage options so I thought it was worth posting here (it's vanagon storage / repair plus it's almost Frydae).
