1. Using Blue Coolant totally is NOT needed in vanagons .. proper attention to coolant mixture and age etc ..IS required of course !

Very Much So ........and I have my own tricks for keeping coolant and aluminum parts very healthy ., but using blue coolant is not part of my method.

2. VW sells a 'mixes with anything ' coolant now .. expensive, as high as $ 24 or so per gallon .. if you 'must' have a blue coolant compatible a-frz juice.

there is also an aftermarket a-frz you can buy that 'mixes with any type of coolant.'
