if the throttle switch is making contact at idle, and the throttle is a little far open when it clicks off .. say at 10 % throttle when you want it pretty close to zero throttle.. and everything is working right, the only symptom you'll get is a little bucking at very low throttle openings .. like if trying to just trickle along at say 22 mph in 2nd and barely any throttle. Then you'd get bucking.

sometimes you need to remove the Throttle Body and work it over ....whatever you need to do to get the switch mechanism working. They are often corroded, or can't reach the adjustment you need. In general... deveople the skill of just taking things apart, figure out how they work, then clean/adjust/tweak until it works again.

The normal failure mode is no contact at idle. which 'should'be the same as disconnnecting the switch ..i.e. no input to the ecu at idle . It won't hurt to try it that way though.

I'd disconnect the oxygen sensor. I've had vans start running pretty decently ( not as good as with everything in perfect tune and a good 02 working though ) when the 02 was disconnected.

Develope a whole slew of ways to test things .. known good used components to try are one way ... and a whole box of test equipment. None of it has to be very expensive. Fuel Pressure guage perhaps might be $ 30 at HF ....etc. there are dozens of easy tests ... visually inspect how the fuel injectors spray, for example. Watch for tiny sparks on the plug wires while watching the engine run in total darkenss, for example. Spray a fine mist of water on the plug wires while running, for example.. there are dozens of simple tricks like that that can be very revealing.
