There was a guy who ran in the Super Sport class of the Open Highway races we used to do in Nevada. Had one of the late Corvairs with a big block Chevy in it, mounted in the backseat. He ran in the 185mph class. Said the thing was pretty scary at speed because it wanted to fly due to it's shape....At that speed, aerodynamics are more than just for 'looks' There was a Big Block Studebaker also.....really slick looking...but not so effective.. I had a pal with one of the 2sp Corvairs with a supercharger when I was in high school....what a dog. Don Hanson |
