Subject: Selling 2 Custom Carbon Fiber Composite Vanagon Gauge/Instrument
Consoles
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8
Hello All:
Well.... it's been quite awhile since I posted to the list. My 1990 Carat died a few years ago.
I'm in the process of selling her off... first to go are 2 Gauge Consoles I designed and built. They are constructed of Carbon Fiber, Fiberglass and Epoxy Resin composite. I designed them, built the plugs, made the molds and layed them up by hand... talk about a labor of love! :)
One fits around the Automatic Shifter and currently holds VDO Cockpit gauges (Water Temp, Oil temp, Oil Pressure and Volts) I also have a Dash unit... my plan was to install additional gauges, some other instruments and a solar panel on the back (windshield) side. I never had a chance to finish the Dash Console.
I've listed them on ebay... here are the links to the auctions. Please post questions for the List or you can pmail me at kevindobrien@yahoo.comif you have questions. I can email you photos as well. (I tried to post photos here... are we not allowed to do that anymore?)
Here are the ebay links:

These are very unique additions to your Vanagon. The Shifter Gauge Console functioned beautifully and was a great way to monitor the Vanagon's performance. The Dash Console was a work-in-progress and whoever buys it should be aware that it will require retro-fitting to mount it to the dashboard, fine tune the fit, etc. The units are very nice cosmetically but not perfect... some small bubbles and edge chips, etc.
I'll be selling the 1990 Vanagon 2.1L... I have 2 engines for sale (one has a bad bearing, rod was gonna go) which is in the van, and I have another engine out of the van which needed heads. I have a brand new set of remanufactured heads, A custom-made aluminum Locker Box (custom made to my specs) that fits behind the 2 front seats and bolts thru the flood... very secure storage (I'm a photographer) I'm located near Deep Creek Lake in the western corner of Maryland (near the tri-state corner of MD, PA, WV) the Vanagon is located in Paw Paw, West Virginia. I’m looking to sell the Vanagon and all assorted spare parts. Please email me for more info... I'll info on the Van, the Locker Box and more here soon.
Cheers!
Kevin
