Keep in mind there are a lot of different coolant hoses and some wiring changes needed to do the conversion properly.

The four speed in my 87 Vanagon is stuck between third and fourth (probably the victim of the common problem with the 3/4 slider). I have an automatic transaxle, accelerator cable, axles, shifter, starter from and 84 that I would like to install. The only part I am missing is the control rod which runs from the shifter to the shift arm on the transmission. This should be easy to fabricate. Are there recommendations on how to have the torque converter and transmission tested for proper operation before this conversion? I would like to know they are working before I transplant them.

Thanks, Enrico Dagastino Memphis, TN
