I agree, you may have blown the MC. The replacement isn't "that" bad. I suggest taking the steering wheel off, though others may suggest against it.

Try starting with a gravity bleed to make sure everything's working right. Park the van nose up a hill, open up the resevoir, and crack open/remove the bleeders for a while.
