Subject: '85 1.9 - Water in the Gas Tank
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

So, as some of you may have read all of my problems were due to water in my gas tank. THere was a lot of water in my gas tank.

So I ask this - where in heck did it come from?

This spring I dropped the tank and put all new seals, grommits, and cross over hoses on the tank. It's all new and sealed up nicely.

The only change I made is that I went with the filler tube from my '90 because it had the float in it that stops the gas when filling up.

THe bus was sitting for 2-3 weeks while I collected parts and fixed the issue I had with the wheel - it did rain a lot during that time - but I still wouldn't expect that much water to get in even if there were crappy tank seals (which there weren't).

My neighbor found the issue and took care of it for me while I was working (I know I have a great neighbor) - he left me what was maybe a quart container full of the gas/water so I could see. Well, it was probably 3/4 water.

So what next? Do I drop the tank again and make sure everything is still intact? (It should be I was very careful and double checked everything when I did it before).

I guess I'm just confused as to where all that water came from. I can't see that I was vandalized I mean I would know because the lock would be hosed on my gas cap.

Baffling
