there is a type of battery lifting strap that grabs onto both battery terminals ... I wouldn't be able to get a battery out of a 91 Westy without this tool.

it's crude.. and not recommended ...but you can clamp onto both battery terminals with a large vice grips on each one ...and pull that way. Or even just on one.. the negative ..and pull that way.
