We found the Club Cruceros out of Marina La Paz to be a great source of local knowledge about special needs. They sent us to the Pepsi bottling plant in La Paz to have some exotic welding done on a boat fitting we'd broken in Bahia Conception...There is also a very helpful guy (or there was) who runs Manfred's RV park in Cd. Constitution...all a distance from (ugly) Guerro Negro..I wouldn't bother with Santa Rosilia...they don't seem very friendly with tourists there, though we did spend some time playing pool in a real dive pool hall there and had some fun once, while waiting for the ferry. Cd. Constitution might be your best bet...there are some Baja 1000 race teams that call that home, probably point you to someone who could weld up the case without taking it out, etc.. Look on it as part of the adventure....I once spent two weeks camped and rebuilding a dodge van in the sand, with pliers, vice grips and borrowed crescent wrenches.... south of Mulege...It's Baja...things rarely go according to plan, but they usually work out just fine..
