I figured mine is ok besides the nasty shape of the fuel sender ring/seal/lock down area don't know if it would seal back up or decintegrate? While removing!!

Yes .....used tanks can be ok ... and ...2WD vanagon fuel tanks are a little different than normal metal traditional fuel tanks. You can look inside a vanagon fuel tank and it can look very clean and nice in there.. but ......you can't really see the sump area where fuel is picked up. So you can't tell if it's clogged up there or not.

I *knew* I had that going on once ( since I ran the van off an auxiliary tank ) and back when radiator shops worked on metal fuel tanks , I took my tank to a radiator shop.

they were resistant to cutting into the bottom where that sump area is . Finally after weeks of putting it off, they did .. they cut open the bottom ..that round low spot in the middle.. and somewhat sheepishly admitted that it was indeed clogged up there .. and they cleaned it and soldered all back and it was fine after that. And there is no doubt at all, that that's what the issue was, and visually .. the tank looked fine inside.

I'll sell you an OK looking used one if you like. Scott
