Look for a vacuum leak. A hose could be pulled loose - or rotted. I had
the same problem on both of my 88 GL's. Was a vacuum leak on the hose
from the oil tower to the AFM. =Had rotted underneath where  you
couldn't see it. A vacuum line on the throttle body had come loose.
