Good goin' Ken !
that's great that you can offer these parts for people that need them.
I don't find that many air-cooled ones still running around myself much ..
( though I don't work on them ...................I try to keep them away ! )
....
But there are Many 82 Diesel Vanagons ..
and people will always keep those running, and of course they use the same
parts on the shift linkage as the air-cooled ones.
re
"There is only one other bushing that is at the universal joint

I just had my nose and hands 'way into' 82 DV linkage..( and just looked
again to be sure )
and near the universal joint , which is just a few inches aft of the aft
edge of the fuel tank ..
the nearest bushing to there that I see, is the one that's about 18 inches
forward of the u-joint, above the fuel tank.
Is that the one you mean ?
I don't quite get your comment 'sorry vanagon nerd' ..
is that how you self-identify ....?..........is that what you're saying ?
