RE: Vanagon Syndrome 'Myth' I have to join Dave on this one Dennis. I acquired a factory Vanagon Syndrome pigtail some years back and stuck it in the spares kit. Three years ago, running down 395 between Susanville and Lone Pine I started to get a mild case of 'Syndrome'. Put the pigtail in and the problem disappeared completely. Just for kicks on another trip I pulled the pigtail to see what would happen and started getting the symptoms again on that trip. The pigtail has been back in ever since and no sign of any problem at all. One of these days I'll swap in another near new AFM that I've acquired since, leave the pigtail off, and see what happens. BTW, I don't doubt for a minute that a wonky O2 sensor can cause very similar symptoms. But in my limited experience the Syndrome is for real and comes from the AFM and can be dealt with using the pigtail. No experience with the capacitor fix but have heard that it doesn't always work. |
