Subject: Fryday - Mk IV Jetta question.
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Just wondering if anyone out there has experience with Mk IV Jetta brake change. My parents have a 2000 Jetta VR6 that needs new brakes soon. The rear calipers have to be turned while retracting with a special tool. Since I don't own the car, I was thinking about renting the tool.

My preferred online dealer for our Mk I Golf has the tool for $45 - ( http://www.germanautoparts.com/Tools/Volkswagen/Brake+tools) The tool at the top of the list here.

Our FLAPS has a "universal" tool for rental. Rental is free but the store cannot tell me if it works for the Jetta. Link is as follows - http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/PFM0/W89200.oap?ck=Search_N0675_-1_-1&pt=N0675&ppt=C0067

Just wanted to know if anyone has experience with the rental tool and can tell me if it fits.

Thanks all, Andrew
