Personally... I almost always use the copper flange nuts, however, both work very well.

That was one of my first thoughts. Sorry to say that my call to BD didn't fair to well in terms of identifying the 'right' parts (in terms of material composition, not sizes) for just the nuts/bolts for the exhaust system.

I took a look at the link to the Gowesty.com exhauast gasket/hardware set on their site (thanks, Hector!), but there really wasn't any description of what the nuts/bolts were made of. Aside from trusting them (or any other vendor), they could be made of pot metal or solid gold. Other than the picture, really no way to tell.

So, that leads me back to the question of what is the 'best' (very subjective) nuts and bolts to use on the exhaust given the various metal compositions that metric nuts and bolts are available on the market? Heat treated steel? Zinc coated? Brass? High nickel content?
