Cold weather and flat-spot tires....In Jackson Hole, Wy...it often gets really really cold. So cold they won't open the ski area until it warms up to -20f....Some days I would walk down to the main drag in Wilson and join the crowd....everyone in the little town was hoping for someone else who's car would start when it was that cold...just one running car to come by and give us all a ride to work...7 people in a VW sedan....all dressed for outdoor work in 40 below.... My wealthy buddy from Newport Beach had a tricked-out Baja rig...a V8 Jeep wagoneer with hugh studded off road tires.....Still just awful in the snow..And that thing felt like the wheels were square....all the way from town to the ski area....those tires just stayed flat on the place they'd sat all night.... Skinny tall section tires work best in snow.....and when it is coldest, that is when stuff breaks.....almost always. Don Hanson |
