Everyone, Thanks for all the info, I would like to see the link too.
I've run a K&N air filter for close to 200,000 miles on my F250 Diesel with oil & filter changes every 5-8,000 miles. Never thought to get one for the vanagon; its been down for repairs for over half the time I've owned it (2001 ) until recently as the engine & transmission have been rebuilt. My Dad was the 2nd owner of it in 1986.
Next major expense will be the a/c unit. Hopefully in time for next summer's travels which is why the concern for the oil selection. We'd use it more during the winter months but have to compete with all those snow birds that flock to our favorite camping spots! They reserve everything and half the time don't show up and the parks do not want to vacate them " as they may show up!" It's a love - hate thing with Reserve America.

I accept that OEM is better than after market brands, regardless of filtering method. Just thought I'd point out though that the chart and graph mentioned in the report do not show up. The report references them several times, but they simply are not there in the report nor is there a link to them. Thanks, mcneely
