Subject: UPDATE -- '84 Vanagon in DeLand, FL
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

UPDATE ON ENGINE

Van is at VW Service by Ron in Daytona. Pratt Towing here in DeLand (AAA contractor) did a very good and careful job on putting it on flat bed wrecker and taking it to Ron's shop. Ron just called with his diagnosis. Intake valve on #1 cylinder is stuck in valve guide. He said valve was worn down 0.060 to 0.080 where it would be retained by the keeper. He is going to remove head, rework it if possible and put it back on. Otherwise, he will put on new head.

John
