This is a long shot Alistair, but when doing my slider door light install, I found what I assumed was the black defogger wire running above spice rack in my '81 Canadian Westy. Check out these images:

Trying to recall if I had found a connector for the defogger up there but pretty sure there isn't one. Regardless, pretty sure that's where the defogger wire runs.
