Thank you to all and especially to the list members who came to my aid after I had a stuck intake valve on the #1 cylinder of the 1.9L engine in my 84 Vanagon. After the head was rebuilt and put back on in Daytona Beach, FL, several other problems surfaced on the way back to Georgia.

Now after have timing set to around where it should be, a new, but faulty plugwire replaced, idle set, including getting the override spring back on the pushrod, the van ran reasonable well on several trips long the neighborhood streets. I have O2-sensor disconnected as apparently that "died" after driving 200+ miles with no spark to the #1 plug.

If nothing else, my Son, age 13, has gotten a lesson on how and how not to troubleshoot a Vanagon engine. I let him back the van out of the garage after we had everything back together.

John
