Raimund,  I've been quite interested in the Ford Transit as a possible 
upgrade to my Vanagon a few years from now for extended USA travel for 
longer periods of time (retirement); I've heard that they were going to 
build a US factory to produce these.  Wondering what you think of the 
full-sizeTransit (not the Transit-Connect), or was the "yuck" directed 
at Ford as a corporation?  What about the vehicle itself?



For me, I'm thinking a little bit bigger than the Vanagon would be nice 
for full-timing, but I don't ever see myself in a full size motorhome.  
Have been watching the MB Sprinter also, but heard lots of "expensive" 
stories to buy and maintain; thought that the new Transit might have an 
advantage with an established network of Ford dealerships for parts and 
repair.   Would greatly appreciate your inside knowledge.

This is kind of vanagon content.

You may have known me (or not) as a german list member for years.
Although I havenīt contributed too much lately (some engine and brake
conversion stuff), I still am lurking around here.

In early 2012 I have the chance to get to work in the US on Fordīs
(yuck) new cargo truck, the Transit.
If there are any listmembers in the Dearborn Detroit area, I would be
happy to meet you. I will have 10 or 12 weeks in the Detroit area, so
any Vanagon fun on weekends will be appreciated...at least :-)
