I remember the canvas bags, seeing them for the first time when I came to Canada, was on a landcruiser (owner was a forestry guy). This particular brand, I think, was "Dromedary Brand" or the like.

For example we had and used the window evaporative device that mounted on the passenger side window pictured to cool the interior of the car. In fact, my brother put in ice. We also had the water bag shown hanging from the rear of one vehicle. The fabric was permeable, and so evaporation cooled the water inside. How many folks have actually seen either of these items of an earlier technology? > > Thanks again for sharing this with us, Alistair. > > mcneely > > ---- Alistair Bell <albell@SHAW.CA> wrote: >> Superb and evocative Life pictures of life on the road >> >> http://carrosantigos.wordpress.com/2010/10/19/u-s-route-30/ >> >> alistair > > -- > David McNeely
