This is on an '84
The lock was getting hard to unlock with the key, if I turned it the
wrong way I'd have to open the passenger door and unlock it by hand.
The other day I was unable to move the locking lever by hand, I was
at a job and needed the tools so I tapped the lever to the unlock
position with a hammer <wince>. The door would not lock after that...
Yesterday I took the lock mechanism out. Carefully examined it, saw
how it worked and could find nothing 'wrong'. Even the greased
sliding pieces looked properly lubed. I put it back together and it
works well not.

It bothers me when something does not work and I am unable to see
why... I know there is a problem and I just did not see it when I had
it apart. It is possible that the lock will continue to work well for
years and years but it's also likely to go bad when I'm someplace I
don't want to leave my door unlocked.

Has anyone had a problem like this? Something wearing on the
mechanism that I didn't notice?
