I have a pair of Deka group 48's here that do not fit. Also, my wife's Audi A8 needs the taller battery as the captive positive cable does not fully seat on the shorter battery. As I said be careful. My guess is that Johnson Controls may be using the same box for both sizes.

While some battery industry specs give dimensions that make the 48 too tall every 48 I have purchased was the same height as the 41. Here is a photo I took of the 2 batteries side by side to show the heights.
