One of the tail lights on my Silverbeast (91 non-GL syncro) has been dead for a few months. Finally got around to dropping in a replacement. I located the package of type 1156R LED bulbs that I bought like 2 years ago, and put it in. Brighter than the old bulb (I still have a incandescent bulb on the other side.) But more centralized. Since the housing is rectangular, it looks a bit odd to have a bright circle instead.

However, this prompted me (especially after Alistair's recent missives) to check the current choices in automotive LED bulbs.

All I can say is WOW!. Lots of choices (a few years ago there weren't many and some of there were....rather cheesy in quality.) Now I see that they have headlight and foglight LED bulb choices, not to mention the festoon bulbs (already in my camper) tail, signal, back up, brake and side marker bulbs. Oh, yah, and instrument panel ones.

Having spent the last several years slowing switching out my household lights for LED bulbs (yah, that can be pretty expensive) I'm now contemplating switching over my automotive lighting.

I'd be real curious to hear commentary from anyone that has switched out their headlight bulbs (either the standard DOT, or the rest of the world H4 style) with LED bulbs. Or for that matter, if you've put LED bulbs in foglights, or put LED driving lights on your vans?
