Hmmm..... . On the occasion that I had a tow with my camper, I had just bought it, and foolishly tried to drive it home without first addressing some items identified as needing attention. Well, the water pump gave out. The AAA service truck came out, and offered to drive me to wherever I needed to take the vehicle. At the time, I had no familiarity with where to get work done on vanagons. I was in western Arkansas, 72 miles from Fort Smith. The driver seemed to think the VW dealership in Fort Smith would be the place to go. We went there, but by then it was well past closing. We dropped the van, and the driver took me to a hotel, as I was dead tired and chose to do that instead of sleeping in the camper in the middle of Fort Smith urban traffic, lights, noise.

The next morning I discovered that the VW dealership service department had just that week moved to another location, several miles away. I called AAA. They dispatched another tow truck, towed the vehicle to the dealership, and the driver stayed around until I arranged for repair. AAA did not count the second tow as one of my tows for that year, since I had been taken to a wrong place on the recommendation of the tow driver.

Now, as to the dealership properly servicing my vehicle, well, they did service it, and though it was expensive, I was happy at the time. The new water pump failed soon after, and I had a devil of a time getting proper satisfaction from that experience, but that is a different matter. The two services provided what I expected and needed, no RV service level involved.
