you know the ole rule...
'keep your vital fluids full' ...
and this was a simple case of low fluids ..so always look !
if it's not clear............. on an 83 or 84, if the level sensor goes
off..
it pegs the temp gauge.
seeing your temp gauge max out 'should' have made you immediately
investigate coolant level in the pressure bottle.
I recently bought a level control unit for a later model van ..
and first time I have any need to ..
I'll put that in one of these earlier vans.
Often the unit has '43' on it ...
on early waterboxers it's above the fuse box and to the left..
where you can barely see or reach it . Way up in there. Instrument cluster
out helps of course.
