hi, sure .... first, get the ATF level to the right mark, engine running, in park, and sitting level. It's critically important on all automatics that they not be overfull on the ATF.

you could have differential oil getting into it ..raising the ATF level. and since there's an ATF cooler/heat exchanger.....coolant could conceivable get into the ATF portion via the oil cooler.

sometimes the filler tube nut will unscrew just fine, and tighten back up and there are no leaks. Sometimes that nut is on hyper tight .. the right tool for it is a 22 ( it's 22mm or 24 mm ) mm tubing nut wrench. Easier to suck it out the dipstick tube.

at one transmission shop .they had a slick home-made jar as a sucker tool.. and it was powered by vaccuum...that you steal off a vacuum port somewhere right on the engine. like T into a intake manifold vacuum hose. Works real nice.

My 90 project bus is apparently leaking ATF from the transmission dipstick. The car has sat for years and it's possible that the previous owners had overfilled it. It's up to the bend in the dipstick, quite high. Should I assume this or bleed it down? Is there anyway that coolant or gear oil is getting in there causing this rising fluid level?

Thanks!

- Craig.
