I bought this cheap (five bucks or so) unit from that big box store a few years ago. Not the sexiest looking bit of kit, but it works. Has a compass (can be "calibrated") and a frost warning light or beeper which I kinda like. It is a wired unit, so I run the external temp probe lead down through the ashtray, continuing down to the base of steering column and out to near the wiper fluid reservoir,
